Ettiolchen Vallendusk never disappoints. Never. Their particular (and instantly recognisable) take on black metal doesn't change and that's great. A solid fourth record by an already iconic band. Favorite track: The Last Soar As The Feathers Fall.

shyaminator Where do you even start? The instruments, vocals, melodies, and harmonies are absolutely amazing as expected of Vallendusk, but the production differences - leaning moreso toward traditional atmospheric black metal, than their last effort - is just the icing on the cake. An indescribably fantastic record that I will late forget. Favorite track: Immemorials In Eternal Slumber.

Bart Melodic black metal that has a true epic feel about it. The occasional folk influences give it nice dynamics that keeps making me come back to this album. Favorite track: The Last Soar As The Feathers Fall.

Tim Yet another fantastic album from Vallendusk. These guys are masters at creating this sort of melodic and atmospheric black metal. They've quickly become one of my favorite bands of the past few years. Favorite track: The Sovereign.

H.L. VALLENDUSK play the kind of lively melodic black metal which is epic and thrilling but does not appear to be evil. Instead, "Heralds of Strife" spreads somehow positive vibrations and transfers me into a good mood by its heroic and majestic pathos. "Marching Ballad of the Unsung Ones" for example invites me even to hum along. A multi-faceted and varied album! Favorite track: Marching Ballad Of The Unsung Ones.

Actually, I don't know how I feel about this album. Let me explain. I enjoy the heavier passages, the Black Metal side of things, but I VERY much enjoy the harp-only tracks. To combine both these elements, in theory, should not even work. In practice, it does - and very much so. I enjoy the second half of the album the most, though it's best consumed in one sitting. So, take 50 minutes and lend your hand (or, ears?) to the palms of sorrowed kings. It will be worth your time. David Fischer
